Dr Laura Stokes
I am a qualified Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working within NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Throughout my career, I have completed a significant number of specialised assessments with children, young people, and families. I hold a particular interest in supporting those who have experienced early trauma or attachment-related difficulties. My priority is always to facilitate a non-judgmental, calm, and therapeutic environment where we can work towards shared goals to improve your family's well-being.
I offer both individual and family interventions and am trained in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. This includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from my core clinical doctoral training, alongside further post-qualification training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy (parts 1, 2, and 3). As a Clinical Psychologist, I use these different models to ensure the best possible support in reaching your family's goals.
As both a psychologist and a parent, I understand firsthand the deep anxiety and concern that arises when a child is facing challenges. Navigating these difficulties can place immense stress on the family. In my practice, I aim to hold space for every family member’s perspective, working collaboratively with you to ease that burden. Together, we will navigate these periods of uncertainty and find a clear, supportive path forward for your whole family.
I am fully registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC), the regulatory body for Clinical Psychologists in the UK (Registration No. PYL25899).
